Well this is only my second hatch and we just started with chickens this spring but there were 8 of them last time and they were just fine. Yes they're in a brooder in our sun porch (the new chicks). I think i might do the stuffed animal tomorrow but right now I have to get to bed. They're so cute its amazing I forgot how tiny some of our other chicks were especially the self blue oegb I have she's such a sweetie. Will have to take pics tomorrow but I swear one of these chicks has a bigger comb already. Boy? I hope not I know the odds are against it but I've got my fingers crossed for two pullets. We have enough roos especially bantams but need more hens. And my self blue is so sweet itd be wonderful to have more like her. She flew up to my shoulder today and started talking to me

Ok sounds good. I do as well.

I was actually going to ask you if it was alright if I send pics tomorrow? The babes,Sable and Andy,are snoozing away! Under ,Brea,their frog mama.

Thank you very much. New to hatching this yr. this is my second hatching for this yr.
had 3 bators running in the spring, hatched African goslings, Ancona ducklings, and a few chickens.

This time I am hatching from my spring bought chickens who started laying about a month ago now.. I am excited,to be incubating my (their) own.

Tomorrow is day 18 lockdown for my eggs. I candled and marked air cells. 6 show good development. 1 looks like it quit after day 10. I think one egg is starting it's internal pip. I might have a chick in the morning.

It's the only one that I think quit. There hasn't been any change in the air cell for about a week. I originally set a dozen, but 5 weren't fertile. I'll post pics in the morning, after I take care of everything for lockdown.

I got 9 out of 12 easter eggers and olive eggers! Three happened to be early quiters when I did my eggtopsies (couldn't candle well due to dark olive egg shells) I'm so happy with all my hatches this year! So far my rates have been 7 out of 9, 5 out of 6, and 9 out of 12! My hatch season is over for this year but I'm already super egg-cited for next season! Happy hatching everyone!

They are hatching! Almost all of the OE have pipped and half of the BLRW have pipped. Everything was alright after all.

The picture is of 2 OE...they are blue! (At least that's what I call them...my dh calls them silver chicks.

) Will post pictures when they are all fluffy. 5 hatched with (hopefully) 18 more to follow.

So far have two old English game bantam peeps out and in the brooder. Can't believe how very tiny they are. They weigh next to nothing. Both are chipmunks but one is darker than the other. Two different sexes? Hope! Hope!
Meanwhile I still hear peeps from the incubator and one appears to be working on the zip. Seems the large fowl can zip really fast and they're out while these little guys have to work on it for a while.
