Well, one of the good eggs started to ooze so I threw out all that where clear or where oozing. Down to one eggs. I really hope it hatches

Well, if it's a cockerel it will be single barred. All my cemani crosses so far have black legs, so I'm assuming the legs with be black. The comb will probably be mulberry. The feather color I couldn't even say - so far with my cemani crosses I've gotten a blue bird, a white bird with black smudges, a pullet that is dominant white, and the rooster in my avatar. They all came from the same parents too and are full siblings. Their mother was a cemani and their father was a white NN mix who apparently had some interesting color genetics under the white.

So I am super excited to see how these sex links turn out!
oh interesting! let me know if you post again on the hybrid page will you, I will lurk again if I have time! I would love to see them grow up! what of egg colors I forgot to ask!

Good morning!!

Should I get some help of how to take out Bubble foot?
I found out that my Silkie rooster has it.
Please put on safety glasses, staph infection is nothing to mess with!!! be very sterile with the bird and MOSTLY YOURSELF AND OTHERS!!! and help is a good thing to have!!! I am sorry to read this :(

Just out of curiousity, what is everyone doing with the chicks they hatch? :)
ughhhhh heck if I know lol giving selling eating?? ha ha ha

Why isn't anyone trying out a Halloween recipe..or carving? Halloween is almost here! Almost.

I think alot will be entered after this weekend and some closer to halloween, but some I would have thought would have been entered by now. Its so easy to win something! IDK shrugs if I could, you all know I would be all over them lmao!! <devil horns growing>

That's awesome! I've found used wood as well, and need to buy the hinges, paint, and roofing materials...but I've been avoiding it.

yea the roofing has always been our main costs, we finally realized we could purchase rolled roofing cheapest and since we do a single angle roof, you never see it anyways! DOH, we only figured that out on our LAST and final breeder COOP build
th.gif
We learned quite a few tricks as we made a few of them. always make them so you never have to step inside a run or coop to feed water or collect eggs, it keeps you clean and free of poop and dust. Make a string or auto run door so you dont have to walk into the run to open it! make sure this cant be effected by winter ice and snow! We also have driveway stones up to all fronts of coops, always dry and clean to walk in, and winter snow melts fairly fast after shoveling too. Always keep runs so they have drainage, and a Godzillion other things you learn over time, like 2x4 roost poles on the sides covered with outdoor carpet brushes clean and can easily be dusted with preth dust and keeps feet from frost bite, also keep them 16" from the floor not the foot from the roof like I see first timers do on this site

, my poor brahma be like layin on the floor with broken limbs ready for stew pot

.

what else is there frmboyinthecity? VENTILATION, omg people are like "they are too cold, stuffing insulation in their coops" I am here yelling at my hubs, "put a darn fan in there!! you are wrong, it needs a fan!!!!! just do it, dont you question me!!!!" <hands on hips>

A pie? Can't wait to see it. I am going to work on an easy one, a cemetery cake. :)

Probably best to split them...you have another bator? Or mama hen. :D

Right? He's had this resting grump face since he broke out on his hatchday:

so cute!!!

I could not get good pictures. My camera battery was about to die and the adjustments in the dark were difficult. This is a Barnevelder. The Lavendar Ameraucana was about the same. They are on day 16, so I'm going to make sure the other bator is spic and span and dry and running by morning to be a hatcher. I'll add water tomorrow and get the humidity to 65% or so. These are the only 2 that made it from the 15 pretty eggs that were shipped to me. I expect these to hatch on Sunday or Monday, but because this hatch has been a bit off I'll give them until Wednesday.

This is one of the two Cream Brabanters left. They are on day 13. They both look okay and are due to hatch on the 29th but I will give them until Halloween.

Two pumpkin pies (the one on the right is in an oreo cookie crust) and a pumpkin chocolate chip bread. I was going to sprinkle some powdered sugar in Halloween patterns on them.

And, because he was feeling particularly interested in the camera, my Wheaten Ameraucana cockerel, B.B. (the King).

"There's only 10 days until Halloween!" my daughter reminded me today. We just started preparing costumes. We have uncarved pumpkins. And in general I just feel way behind and I have no good reason for it.

@tracyjg I think your surgery is today or coming up this week. I'm wishing you well. Please update when you can. How are your eggs doing?
BB looks like an EAGLE!!!!!! Go chickies, please go go go!!!! and choc chip pumpkin!!! omgggg yums kids would love that!!

I candled earlier, out of the seven I had two developing, the rest where clear. Im keeping them all in the incubator, unless they cause problems. Im happy. They shipped from Indiana and I'm in northern CA, and they are seramas, so thats a plus
seramas are so tough shipped

oh crap!!!!

What should humidity be in the room for a dry hatch?
what is it? we run a dehumidifier during the summer when it gets above 45 and in the winter we have a coal stove running

My house smells wonderful! I am finally making chicken stock and going to can it for the first time. I am going to try BYC frugals recipe. look how yummy his looks, minus the feet and heads, couldnt get mom to save them when she was helping us with the chicken processing lol. But I have tons more necks, backs etc than he has to make up for "them" Has anyone ever canned noodle soup? if so can you share HOW? or recipe? I am still on the roasting part
