Omgoodness poor pup

I'm not great at hatching yet. My first hatch I ran over humidified (70%) for the first three days then balanced it all out and still gotten 60% hatch. I ran dry this time and am down to 4/24. The middle hatch was a 50% hatch rate with a small sponge in to start the incubating process. There are so many other factors that have come up in my hatches though. I think dry for a day will be fine. A small sponge in there will help you understand your hygrometer measurements too.

For my first hatch I followed the instructions for the incubator and filled all the water channels. All the chick's were huge. Most couldn't even turn in the egg. A few hatched, but most never even pipped, or pipped and couldn't rotate and zip. Most of the chicks that did make it had leg problems. It was horrible.

Ever since then I have run dry around 30%, and have about 90% hatch rate. (On my own eggs, don't even ask about shipped eggs)

Best wishes for chickies for both of you! Seramas are difficult. Even on the home front for people who raise them. Those little eggs can be challenging so don't kick yourselves too hard. Probably nothing that you did wrong.

I hope so! I know when I first read about Serama & how difficult they were to hatch & raise I was intrigued. I really keep telling myself not to get to worked up if it doesn't work but you can't help it when they are such tiny little eggs that depend on you.

Thank you! I will send you so many Serama eggs that you will be up to your ears in the little things, like me, in no time at all! Even if you do just hatch one or two at a time!

You're so awesome!

Ron or Sally might help you better but I don't see them on here right now. I would leave it as is until you get a better hygrometer. Dry is safer.
Nothing wrong with 38%, or even 25% for now. Do you have an idea of your ambient humidity? Even a local weather report? (Or how I do it, how curly, straight or frizzy is my hair.....)

My curls are always frizzy & kinky! Maybe that's why the dry works here

Just out of curiousity, what is everyone doing with the chicks they hatch? :)
I have a couple of people who have learned about Seramas from meeting my little loner guy/girl chick & said that they would give any I didn't want a home. So if I get into too many I have a couple of homes lined up...but I think I'd like a couple up to my ears

Why isn't anyone trying out a Halloween recipe..or carving? Halloween is almost here! Almost.
I'm gonna get on it as soon as I get my 3 weekend off work coming up next week! Then, we'll see what I can conjure up!

I have had the bator running dry for about 9 hours now and the built in hygrometer 22% and my secondary one is below zero...... I ordered a new thermo hygrometer ( a Meade TM005X-M personal weather station) but it may not get here for a few days. Should I keep the bator dry or add a little moisture? When I reach in there it feels more humid than my bed room and there is no visible change in the aircells of the eggs. I just don't want to screw up my eggs on day one.... *sorryI'manoverthinker*
I over think/worry/panic about these eggs too hun! I feel ya there

I candled earlier, out of the seven I had two developing, the rest where clear. Im keeping them all in the incubator, unless they cause problems. Im happy. They shipped from Indiana and I'm in northern CA, and they are seramas, so thats a plus
