Just accomplished reintegration of a recovered hen to her flock, it took 2 months! Was looking like I would need to let her have a try at hatching her own family and build a second coop.
I'm trying so hard not to mess with my eggs today. I want to wait until tomorrow night, which would be day 4 plus some hours. My flashlight hand is itchy.
CONFESSION of the day...... I took a peek at my eggs, and I paid dearly for doing it.... remember when I said I unscrew the lightbulbs in the incubator to candle.... well guess who forgot to screw them back in before she went into her aunts house
yea that be me, you betcha... I said I wouldnt touch them, I said I woudnt do it, I wouldnt candle, and I DO IT ANYWAYS just to be sure they came to no harm, I DID IT ANYWAYS.... IT GETS ALL OF US, it DOES IT TO US.... DONT DO IT, DONT LET IT GET YOU!!! the heat was off them for hours about 5 I would guess, temps down to 74. I didnt candle, I cant candle now, I feel bad now. I am an idiot, I did that one other time, not near this long, with the white face spanish and they did fine, but not temps this low and at a time where they are to internally pip either. I screwed them back on, temps came up and steady out. I dont see any externals. I would say at this point, These poor pretty eggies need prayers, and I need a swift kick in the butt. I have been so dumb lately, I forget so many things from this dumb medicine I cant stand it! I am so sorry little chickies ugggggg... after I moped around all afternoon, I started the coal stove, fed chickens and then the kids wanted to do pumpkins.....
this little booger had my laptop all day while I was at my aunts supervising cleanout.
She has her own, for some reason she thinks moms is better! This is before I threw her off tonight!
I am so glad to have her, she is my helper!!!
