Thank you. Well I ended up getting some.

So far I have gotten eggs from Meyer, now let's try MPC.

I had gotten 36 eggs from Meyer, split them with a friend, and only one hatched.

Most developed but died around Day 18 or never pipped

I write an egg number on mine. The egg number goes in a notebook with hen and rooster, egg weight, egg shell hue, date laid, date set. The eggs then go into mesh pedigree bags. They get leg banded when they come out of the bags.

So I am going to draw on three of my eggs just a smidge with sharpie just to give them a tad personality and name them...... I found this...

I think I will hatch "Spider Chic" "GhostSpider" & "DracuEgg" my kids gave this alot of thought, now I have to figure out how to simply sharpie each egg and hatch it!
No problem! I think I will do the eggs in the bator already, Hubs wont even notice right? muwahhahhahaaaa a ghost musta done it! seriously how fun will this be! routin for these eggs, if I kill them he will have my head, but in the end I guess its fitting...

Oh man I forgot to set my last batch of eggs before I left for work

Guess who's going to have to go to the coop tonight at midnight when I get home to grab and set eggs. Sigh.

lol I dont even have eggs yet!!! but I have a ton in that hubs had already set early!! we are ALL over the place this gang! but thats great!!! no matter!

Oh well, you will have some late ones like me. I will have some early birds and late.

look what we our doing. Building homeschooling chicken incubator starting. He bought two piece of glass last night. Yah he also bought to new zoology hygrometer last night when he went to get dog food. Work begins. Early on two week vacation .yah

It would not have mattered if you waited longer. You just would have had older eggs. What day of incubation are you on?

The shipped eggs are on day 5. I had the bator running dry. It was 25% RH. I added a sponge last night to bring it to 40%. I'm hoping it helps slow the air cell growth. The saddle shape makes it difficult to judge growth of the cell, which is how I monitored best humidity last time. This is yet another example of how my lack of patience has turned into a lesson. In the spring if I get shipped eggs I'll make sure I have a scale to measure weight loss rather than air cell size.

Yesterday I set 45. Eight of them are Saxony duck eggs that I don't think are fertile, as they are Easter HAL babies and I haven't seen any frisky action yet from them. I know they are a week late for Halloween, I just threw them in for fun.
The chicken eggs are just a bunch of mixes, mostly Orps and Leghorns. I think a lot will be infertile also because of super young roosters.

I'm down to 53 birds so I need more chicks. Haha

Ok, of the 12 that made it to day 14, only 1 quit during that time. So now 11 in lockdown!!

My big dog in the hospital again cancer back. I want to try and fix the coop before he comes home and I come home from hospital .and possibly have tools to fix incubator . Partner sweet yesterday and bought to fans on eBay. They should arrive approximately oct 20- nov 6. But it's not in time for the hatch for lock down on 21st trying to figure out how to lock down other ones still in the incubator and more have to go in. And the one there in will not hold high humidity . I don't know who said it on there humidity not holding we have the same issues if you put water in it goes to high. No water to low . We have to just barely wet a two damp sponges to be right. Turn nebulizer on . Humidifier on and vaporizer on side fan on and air conditioner on to keep temp and humidity in the house that 80. With everything on.full blast set at 70.we do our best with what we have.

oh I pray he will be ok! awwwww my goodness more on your plate!!!! thats all you can do, do the best with what you have!

Okay....so I added three more eggs today....You can't blame me if three of my favorite hens gave me eggs this morning.....

I know! Where does it stop? And when I candle and someone's not developing, I'll have to put replacements in.....

oh dont even go there!!! ha ha ha wait till you read my post with my hubs eggs in it!! oh lord, this can go the other way too remember!

6 of 7 of mine are still going!!! Looks like 12 hours at room temp can't stop these beastly eggs, dang.

Anyone decorated their chicken yard or coops up real nice for Halloween? I'm thinking next year I want to involve my chickens in it somehow, have kids come around back. Maybe I can give them treats to feed the chickens along with their candy, if I can find something healthy enough. I want an excuse to be sitting with them to make sure they aren't stolen!

Sooooo these are the eggs my hubs has in the bator because we need ONE CCL rooster

yes I said ONE CCL ROOSTER,
note there are different color eggs in there? also note the XXL eggs in the center!!!!

Well here is the story, he candles CCL eggs the biggest blue eggs (note color stinks in this image but eggs are really pretty lol)
anyways, he candles and he says he sees this stuff floating in the eggs other than the yolk and thinks they are bad for some reason,
and he is afraid they wont hatch so he sets a bunch more just in case his gutt is right, then he asks me if he can set some of the Crested Barred Rock eggs, he has two in his hand and two of the XXL eggs in his hand, NOTE HIS FIRST TIME EVER HATCHING EGGS, I said whatever just hatch what you want I aint taking care of chicks, you are OUTSIDE NOT INSIDE, so he says, well in that case I need more Crested Barred Rock eggs, I told him I just put them in the fridge because we eat all of those eggs, he asks me if I think they will hatch and I said IDK never did it, try it if he wants, praying they wont. He candles last night think it was like day 10 or 13 idk he dont know when he set them lol, they look like day 12 and he tells me they all are growing!!!!!!! SAY WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL ARE GROWING!!!! OH NO THEY AINT!!! NO NO NO so I candle and gosh dang it, even the old boogers and cold boogers are big old embryos!!!

So anyone local needs CCL and Crested Barred Rocks give me a buzz

I will add, please dont look at my thermo or hygros, I have hatched thousands of chicks at this point and KNOW my bators and thermos and hygros AND what temps and humidity work for what breeds
