Guh. I'm fed up with my crummy prefab coop (it's a square meter, or about 16 sq ft) and I'm looking to build another one, same size but with different roofing and less nooks and crannies. Clearly I can't be trusted to hatch more chickens until I handle housing the ones I got! XD
Too bad your on the other side of a little body of water. I am actually just finishing building one about that size that I'm going to sell.

Why isn't anyone trying out a Halloween recipe..or carving? Halloween is almost here! Almost.

I have plans for a sloped roof coop that's the same size. We get a lot of used lumber coming through (since my husband works as a contractor) and I figure the more I salvage the lower the costs will be. The biggest ticket item will be the paint, you won't BELIEVE the prices on exterior facade paint!

I made some pumpkin pie. I'm working on it. I'm uploading pictures. The four remaining eggs are clearly doing well. I'm panicked and the hatch. 2/4 are going to lockdown tomorrow. 2/4 are 3 days behind. I think I'll split them up but I'm torn.

That's awesome! I've found used wood as well, and need to buy the hinges, paint, and roofing materials...but I've been avoiding it.

@frmboyinthecity I have about a liter's worth of green interior paint I plan on using to paint the inside. It's a cheery apple green too, should help make it easier to protect the wood from cracking and letting mites nest in the cracks. We have plenty of free screws and washers and such, and hinges are the kind used on kitchen cabinets (the soft close kind in case of chicken toes). We have a ton of plywood and compressed particle wood boards in the storage warehouse where they do all their cutting. I figure if I can utilize what's laying around I can do this for crazy cheap, under 100 euro if I can swing it. We planned on corrugated plastic sheeting for the roof, as the wavy sheeting will provide extra ventilation. If we can get it in clear plastic even better, I have no need for a window if the roof is clear and the greenhouse effect means free heating (a huge issue here).

A pie? Can't wait to see it. I am going to work on an easy one, a cemetery cake. :)

Probably best to split them...you have another bator? Or mama hen. :D

That's awesome! We have a trailer manufacturing company near my house that gives away all their old wood/pallets. This one is made out of 5/8 inch plywood and 2 by 3 inch boards.

hippie, like you avatar..noticed those girls sunbathing a few pages back and thought how cute is that. Even showed my DH. A few of my hens were up sprawled out on my back porch like this earlier.
