I've been taking my eggs apart when they are quitters. I want to know what is going on .........the first few times it was a bit challenging but now I can see where they stopped. Thank you for the link .....it'll help a lot!

you have the other breakout analysis link right? to actually figure out whats wrong? this is more for timeframe of death. its at the what went wrong section in the hatching 101 if you ever need it. they do come in handy until you get it down for sure! welcome! your picking it up fast! soon you wont need any of it!

I do have it. I guess the thing that threw me is it didn't "click" (whats new lol) that no matter what the humidity was, the membrane would still shrink if there was a temp issue.

oh you can see the germinal disc with a good flashlight by all means sure! and veining by day 2 with some great lights as well!

Have you seen this from the article I threw together Saris? its a quick run through! if you have kids, show them, its so cool! there are a bunch of things like that I threw in the article to share with them. and I have a bunch of my own in there too!

That is great!

Almost no one will have an egg shell that will work and or a light that is bright enough. My Penedesenca and Olive colored eggs would never work, LOL. They do not even show up veins. With those eggs, you have to wait until after day 14 and look for darkness instead of glowing inside the egg.

Ok I had 1 lav ameracauna hatch. A pip on another one of those. I also have a pip on a lav orp also.

Tried to add a pic but iPhone app won't let me upload.

I know right! hers isnt spread a whole lot so we shall see in a day or two. You should see my light in HarmonyAnns serama egg that lays a pure white egg! its amazing!! I have never seen anything candle like it the first few days, wouldnt have believed it myself until that hens eggs!!! And well duck eggs even though so clear at candle, they take too long to grow, so those are out, our white faced spanish never could see either. But sometimes depending on the egg, you can see that spread happen. You know when I was reading about that preincubation phase stuff, it said about how the embryo grows to a certain phase and the one article/abstract had images. I wish I would have kept it to refer back to, it was really a neat read, although not anything for the common hatcher, but you probably would have found it interesting like I did. There is a google scholar for researching, have you found that search yet? it was in there. Thats where I look when I am seriously searching my health issues and stuff.

I cant upload on it either, or multi quote, or quote for that matter, or read that little lol

but congrats and go chickies!!!!

Just for fun (read impatience) I candled one of my Blue Andalusian eggs that was laid yesterday morning and immediately incubated and I saw a darker blob on the yolk!

It was so neat!

I'm one to always candle 24 hrs. later. Can see the big dot? It's fertile. It isn't always large, sometimes they are small, but most of the time you can see that dot. Handle very very carefully/slowly, if you decide to do this a day after setting.

Just some quick questions, I set them yesterday morning, so today I can say they're on day 1 incubation? Also for my 1588 do I take the vent plug out at day 10? and should I worry about the height change on day 18 from them going from the auto turner to the floor of the bator?
