I have had many a silkie hatch. Some really good, some so so, and some really bad. I have learned, less humidity. Not only during incubation, but during lock down. I have some in for this Halloween hatch right now. I will not get my humidity up past 50 during lock down. I live in a dry area, even in the valley.

Thanks Cynthia! Crossing my fingers. I read they don't lay as often as other hens but one of mine seems to have gone on strike? Saving eggs LOL

I do too, just checking that there isn't some other super feed that mine are missing out on.
Have you tried ware milling. Some folk down here swear by it. But the closest place to get it is in Lumberton.

I've never heard of it. I'm going to research it though.

Hi everyone! Mind if i join in?

I don't have any eggs to hatch right now because my hens are freeloaders and i am going out of town in 9 days. But I thaught this would be a fun way to learn more.

My friend an i have a flock of ameraucanas for 4-h. So I usally incubate ameraucanas but she recently bought some barred rocks and legbars so that will be fun to look forward too.
welcome to the thread @Watermelon123

Hope this is okay Sally but I had to do this:
lol good one!

Sally, your dogs eat birds? I take it your birds are always in a run. Imagine that, Springer Spaniels wanting to catch a bird. They are flushing bird dogs, as you well know, and not pointers. Used to have an English Setter. They point, then retrieve, and hopefully they bring the bird back without having been mauled. Yes, had a dog back in the 70's was one of the best hunting dogs I've ever seen/had, very soft mouth. Loved her!
they just kill them lol

Sally, your dogs are beautiful! Love this one too!

LL

They look fat and sassy. Wow, large litter? Or norm?

this is a litter mom had boob issues thats how fat they get when bottle fed! normal litter
Thanks for responding! The chick still has its butt in the shell and is still breathing. Not peeping and is still curled up how it was in the egg. I personally can't see it surviving but who knows. I wrapped it in a semi moist paper towel and its still in the incubator.
I must have missed a post??? I post so much I miss posts! yeee gads
