Actually, I only have one mutt chicken and that's the frizzle/Ameraucana that I posted awhile back. The oddballs that keep happening are birds that I don't have others of the same kind, like the Hamburg, or extra roos that I adore but get beat up if in the correct pen. A little crossbeak roo that follows me everywhere... A Serama roo that was raised with peacocks so he roams with them.....and on and on...The mystery egg will most likely be a pure silkie, second bet would be silkie/Serama. My most gorgeous mistakes were when a silkie roo bred a golden pheasant hen! Very cool, sterile birds, but they died at about a year old and I read that is common. I now have a Polish hen in the yard because I let my favorite silkie have an egg that she could keep after hatching lots of other stuff for me that she had to give to me. They are inseparable, so a Polish crossed with either that big frizzle cross guy or a silkie roo is possible when she starts laying....
That was probably TMI....
My family left on their road trip to PA this morning! I have the computer, shower....everything to myself! Except the kids left without carving pumpkins![]()
Keep up the great posts!!!
I love me some GSDs!
Looooove you, Winter!!!
So adorbz!!
They are so pretty! Your dogs look all different like my house!
DANG! At least you didn't really pay for them but that's a bummer! Are Ayam Cemamis expensive because they are difficult to hatch? They are a very cool looking bird, I won some eggs in the spring at a benefit auction, NONE hatched![]()
love seeing them on beds you just know they are loved!!! and that their owners are good hearted people!! Dogs only live 10-13 years average, how much does a comforter cost, seriously!
This is my cuddle time with my kids, hubs and dogs! I wouldnt miss it for the world, who cares what the bed looks like or how many times I have to change the bedding! I make it part of my chore list, because its a very important part of my life!![]()
That's great! See, I like cat with lots of ketchup too! My roommate prefers horse radish...
I love RIRs, they are full of attitude!Just got two Rhode Island
Red
Bantams
Any one no any thing bout. This Chickens?
My lone guy is due on Halloween Eve at day 19, day 20 if he actually wants to hit Halloween. As of last night he was still moving but I don't see any internal either. I am seriously considering a Brinsea Mini, how do you like it? Are there any drawbacks to it? I have my Dasps right on my night stand next to my bed so I totally get being lazy, my Dasps are clear too!well the lone serama egg wants me to be annoyed. Its day 19 or 20 (I think it 20) Not even an Internal pip, I just candled to check for an internal pip when I was putting water in and it wriggled, so thats a good sign, Hoping it pips tonight or tomorrow. The Incubator is in my bedroom on my desk and i am in my room watching movies on my laptop and staring at the egg hoping for a pip. The egg is moving around the incubator pretty good though. I have a Brinsea mini advance so i don't even have to stand up to see inside... Lazy Persons dream!
Awesome! I'm hoping to win some from @TJChickens in the Halloween contest.I fell in love when I saw my first picture. Got mine from TJChickens.
wooo hoo!
I currently have 9 in the incubator on day 16. I had to take them out of the auto turner because I think one is way ahead of schedule. Hand turning from here on out. This is my first batch.
YAY
You're welcome dear. I hope you are feeling better and that the others are doing wellThank you Ren, I needed that hug.
Which Halloween contest is that? We had an amazing porcelain d'uccle roo who even stood up to our hyper aggressive rooster that was much larger than him to protect me. His name was "Blue" and we were planning on keeping him for sure but he died in a freak accident when he tried to jump on a wooden barrel and fell with his neck between the slats and broke his neck.I still miss him a lot.![]()
No, do not worry. Internal pips can happen a couple of days before external pipping. It's been about 10 hours since internal pip- should I be worried that there is no external pip yet?
I've got an internal pip on my serama egg!
I have had an internal pip for atleast 5 hours ago, how long till I can expect an external pip
That's such a bummer for the kid to have to see that after she was all psychedAll the girls in my hatch are sold, a friend is getting 6 and another friend of a friend is taking 6, and I get to keep the CCL males and Luke claimed Godzilla now named SPOOK and HarmonyAnn claimed another and named her Pumpkin.
The pipper in the incubator was still alive this morning, the mom of the kid I watch talked me into letting him go over night, she freaked for him, I said ok just for you, but in the morning the bator stank so bad I needed to do something, I made its pip bigger , mind you its been pipped way way too long and its veins still huge and unabsorbed, this typically means it has an umbilical/intestical issue that it cannot or will not absorb, so it was just living in its shell like that, it was so sad, he was active and everything. I opened him up before the cull and his intestines grew on the outside, through a hole higher up and to the side, NOT where the umbilical where the yolk sack was absorbed, he even had a first poop in the shell. I had to cull. I had seen this only two times but they never lived, usually died in the shell. poor guy. the other egg chick was upsidedown and couldnt get out as I figured, another female.
Incubator is bleached, sterilized and up and running to dry out. I think kiddo has orders coming in today for serama chicks, and I think I have a order for CCL now that I started hatching. DID I ?
SQUEE!!!! Baby!
Mine took 24 hours after a tiny pip to even kick a little more shell off, just to take another day to open more. All I could do was a q-tip & water to keep the membrane damp. It's so hard to wait when there's just the one egg! It's been about 10 hours since internal pip- should I be worried that there is no external pip yet?
She has such pretty D'unccles!Awesome! I'm hoping to win some from @TJChickens in the Halloween contest.
