2015 hatchery chick order thread!!!

I ordered from Mcmurray's for the first time and am expecting them to arrive February 7-10 th. The wait is killing me!! First time chicks. Have an almost complete coop and we are finishing up the brooder now.
We ordered:
The frying pan special (15 white leghorn males)
A free exotic
All females now:
Dark brahma
Silver laced wyandotte
Buff orpington
Speckled sussex
Colombian wyandotte
Golden laced wyandotte
Blue cochin
Two Easter eggers
Barred rock


And hoping for lots of packing peanuts!!! Which probably means I won't get any!!

Looking forward to seeing all the pics of the Feb 2nd chicks!!!

Golden sex link pullets from Ideal; scheduled to be sent on February 9th.

They have now added heat packs for $3 if you wish to purchase this instead of purchasing insurance in place of extra males for warmth.

My babies arrived! All alive, 2 barley alive that I lost the next day and another the day after all Red Leghorns they seem very delicate and weaker that the rest.

I opted out of McMurray's "free rare chick" and I got this chick as a surprise:
guessing its a Buff Orpington, Buff Rock, or Buff Mincora as its my biggest chick, heavier that he/she looks (and only yellow one). It better be a pullet!!!

We just received an order of 15 chicks from Meyer yesterday. We decided on the rainbow assortment layers. Unfortunately, 3 were DOA. They were shipped 2 day priority in a box that had only a very small heating element. (Mind you were in MA, and it's the middle of winter) At least half of the remaining chicks were not in good shape, but with some serious TLC we thought they would pull through. WRONG. Two more have died after being seemingly healthy, eating, drinking, pooping...just keeled over. Three others are not well and I'd be surprised if they make it through the day. This is very disheartening and hard to see these poor babies so carelessly shipped. I don't think I'm even going to ask for replacements because I fear the same thing will happen. Needless to say this has not been A good experience thus far.

My chicks (first order from My Pet Chicken) should be hatching today, and I'll hopefully get them tomorrow!

I just ordered 15 from McMurray and I am still in pursuit of some really blue egg layers. Looks like I will double the size of my flock this year!
