So since we've determined my peachicks are opal and they're growing like weeds, I was wondering how early I can expect to be able to sex them. Is it the same as IB or are opals harder to sex? Just wondering if I should go ahead and get them DNA feather sexed or not.

Same, at 3 months you should be able to tell, the opal chick i showed you earlier turned out to be a hen.

ETA: Just realized i showed the young opal chicks picture in this thread, these are still young can't tell their gender yet. The oldest chick is the one who turned out to be a hen.

Excellent! I'll wait it out then. I know it's not what most people want, but I actually want them to both be hens. Then in a few years I'd get them a nice IB male, as that is my favorite color in peafowl.

Thank you I did read all these post and I will now know what to do. The little one didn't make it. I had it in my hands and it gasped for breath and was gone. So there must of been more than the leg issues.

Edited to add: Valbazen contains albendazole at 113.6 mg per ml

Have you seen an opal silver pied male before?

No I haven't. That is a very pretty boy! Honestly my 'dream' peacock would be a black shoulder pied IB, but I doubt I'll be able to find one locally, so I'll settle for just IB till I can find eggs of the kind I really want.
