2015 Peafowl Hatching Support Group - Eggs and Chicks!

It pooped. 90 degrees near the light. I put some electrolytes in the water hoping to give it some energy.
Have you been handling it alot, really should be left in the brooder to fluff up and get to it's feet , when they first hatch they are so tender and you get a bubble butt chick and they are swollen up in the back you can easily bruise their tender bodies, they down helps cushion handling some so IMO unless you have some kind of emergency they should be left in the brooder for 24 hours no touchy

Also our comfortable room air temps are to chilly for first hatched so if you take them in and out you can give them a chill , just trying to touch bases here, not sure what is wrong just from looking at the photo but it looks damp and cold not fluffy like a 24 hour old chick , i am prying for the wee one and you i know this is heart breaking when you just don't know what is wrong

I stuck a heater to help add more heat. It's starting to keep it's head up and keep it's wings tucked in. Hope it's legs and feet bounce back. But now the peachicks take my room. My room is almost too hot for me.

Third and Laziest hatch so far. Had 5 eggs, but one was dead at lockdown, so we removed it. That left 4 and 3 internally pipped, 24 hrs later one had pipped internally and externally at the same time and on the opposite side as the air cell. I put air holes in for the other 3 as they had been chirping away but no cracks in the shells yet. Waited another 24 hrs. and still no progress so I started peeling, spent all day yesterday peeling these 4 out of their shells.

They were ready, no bleeding and clean navels, just wouldn't do the work themselves. Ended up with 4 healthy babies, a pied, a silver pied, a spalding split white, and another IB split Bronze, BS and white.
