2018 Hatchalong

Serb, congrats on more goslings! I do not know the medical issue you are talking about, so please let us know what your sister says.

Colly, congrats on the adorable gosling! Looks like a buff dewlap to me.

This is turning out to be a disaster hatching year for me. I have given over a dozen developing eggs to three reliable broodies, only to watch them leave nest or otherwise fail to hatch them. I held back one egg to hatch in my bator this weekend. But the darn thing couldn't turn into correct position and is not able to internally pip, so it's not going to make it. I only have a trio of eggs on day 15 left in bator, and with the way my luck has gone so far, I do not expect any to hatch. So, 2018 will likely be the first time in 6 years without goslings.

Oh well, I guess since I already have 31 geese, I do not "need" more geese.
Strange how that happens some years. Fingers crossed you get a few but sounds bad.

My girls are still laying, but since end of season, probably not high fertility, and I don't have the heart to set more. It's quite all right. There's always next year. In the meantime, it's fun watching all of you hatch and the excitement from the newness of it. Except for Serb, not many of us on the forum with large flocks that they have maintained for years.

All 5 are hatched! One is weak with a little umbilical bump. Seems to be slowly improving. I think the others might have "helped" it finish hatching, I had membranes folded back over the shell that disappeared.

They are all different colors, help will be needed to try to ID breeds!

Ok so the people had White Chinese, Pomeranians, and Toulouse. I'm not sure if these will be crosses but they thought they mostly were paired up by breed.
