2018 Hatchalong

Pics
That is a very good sign. I would think 28 days to hatch is awfully early, even for shetlands. I'm guessing it's probably closer to 29-30 days to hatch.

I once lost a baby gosling that was in an outdoor brooder pen to a magpie. It was awful. Fortunately, that is the only gosling loss to predator I've experienced, even though we have plenty of predator birds.

I have two eggs that are somewhere between 15-21 days (forgot to mark date set), and am watching bator carefully to make sure these and the ones I recently set hatch. While I enjoy watching the ducklings, I want goslings.

Thank you, this will help me not panic when they haven't popped out on a by the book schedule.

I can see the shetlands pushing against the aircell membrane like they are getting ready to go. Sure does seem like it'll go past 28 days, which is tomorrow.

Since ducks take 28 days to hatch, it seemed weird to me for any goose breed to only take 28 days. Based on latest sign, it should be at least two more days before hatch, since it takes about 48 hours from internal pip to completing hatch.

Seems that way. But everything says lighter breeds are 28 days. I wonder if Roman's hatch that early, they are little too.

My water drinker is a clog for my babies :)

I've 4 buff africans not in these pictures since they still need the red heating lamp, especially the 2 latest goslings.
