Can't beat enjoying the chicks without the stress indoors! Mine are raised outside under a heating pad cave which we all call Mama Heating Pad. Welcome to BYC!!
I read about MHP after joining this site and think that's the route we will take next time we are brooding chicks. Thank you!

I took the plunge yesterday and moved my seven week olds out to the coop.

Woke this morning to find them happy as can be. My older girls aren’t sure about the intruders though. A couple weeks in the broody breaker and hopefully they’ll integrate easily.

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve been on. I’ve had a bathroom remodel going on for a few weeks now and it’s been very overwhelming. Should be over in the next week or so.

My family and I went on vacation for a week and the chicks did great! I’m so thankful that I got that automatic door installed. I just don’t think that I could of asked someone to come over twice a day to let chicks in and out. I mean being in an urban area and all, were just not used to that sort of thing. Lol!

My girls are now 4 months old! I’m in the egg waiting game. Honestly tho... I just don’t think that it’ll happen for a while tho. I do have a fake egg in the nest box but they never go in the box. They don’t seem interested. I don’t think they are quite full grown yet and their combs aren’t growing much.

I’ll get an updated picture of them tonight during their free range time. :)

Newbie here! I recently got 3 black sex-link chicks and they are the best! We built our coop out of crates we found on the side of the road and will be moving our chickens out to it this week I think. They are about 5-6 weeks old and from what I can see they have all of their feathers. It still has been getting slightly chilly here in MA at night but I think they are ready to go out... any thoughts?? I am planning to wean them to outside by bringing them out for a little while each day.
