So I called numerous vets today to find out about neutering a rooster. It's just a thought in case I have two roosters, because as of now no one really wants a rooster and I refuse to let one of them be dinner. I hate being in this spot. I was informed that some breeds can be blood tested to find out if male or female, which I am also considering, so at least I know and I can plan.

We had outside time today. Started training the dogs to respect the chickens and ducks. It went well. A simple leave it or where is your ball worked. The chickens were quite interested in te dogs and did not flutter or run. They looked at them and continued eating. It took me forever to catch all 7. It sounded like I was killing the ducks.

Hi! I’m brand new! Actually just got my first chicks ever today! Hoping for no roos because were not aloud any in our area. I’m so excited to finally be getting chickens- I’ve wanted them for years! I got 2 Ameraucanas, 1 silver laced Cochin, and 1 dark Brahma.

Brand new to chickens this year. We moved in January. Where we lived before we had a restriction on having chickens. We are now zoned agricultural so no restrictions! We got our first chicks this week and have been working in our coop and run since we ordered them but the weather hasn’t been cooperating here in Wisconsin! Loving all the advice and support here!

Third time’s the charm right? Wrong...
Teaching only two chicks the nipple waterer has proven its challenges. I’m on day three....
Today I made a breakthrough though, turns out peanut butter is our friend.
A little drop of it on the end of the nipple and they just went nuts over it (no pun intended)

Also my Buff Orp Myrtle is camouflaging quite well in her pine shaving enclosure. Getting a good picture of her is next to impossible.

These guys will be ten weeks tomorrow I can’t believe it! They’ve integrated with the “big” girls wonderfully.

Poor Wally can’t catch a break though. He has 17 ladies to look after and I think he’s in over his head. They’ve pecked his neck clean in a few places. I feel just awful for him. I’ve been giving him extra protein to help with his feather loss, if it gets any worse I may have to separate him. :hit
