neither Australorp is aggressive, the one I threaten with freezer camp is skiddish beyond all belief, she tears up my hands when I try to handle her when I look her over monthly. My gentle docile Australorp came from MyPetChicken. The second from the feed store I work at. I think they got them from either Meyer or Murray McMurray.
Oh yeah, skittishness can be just as annoying as aggression.
My bantam, Birdie, is like that.
But the friend I got her from is overrun with chickens right now and doesn’t handle them much.
She actually gave me two but the white one just would not calm down so she took her back.
Turns out she had a nest somewhere and that’s why she was so frantic.
I’ve heard of aggressive Australorps but it seems to be pretty rare.
I have no idea how I’m going to tell them apart!
I mean, how do you name birds that all look the same?
I’m also going to have 3 SS and 3 PR but I think there will be little differences with those ones.
I can tell one of my Wyandottes by her comb; she has a spike at the back of it.
I also tell them apart by their butt fluff shades.

Interesting. My Wyandotte is very chill, so meek as to be low on the pecking order. My sex link matured very quickly and was big, top bird for awhile growing up but not very big nor top anymore. Still, both will follow me hoping for treats.
The Wyandottes were chill too, at first.
But after they started laying as time went on the one at the bottom of the pecking order, Penelope, became 2nd.
She’s quite the bully about food.
Drives Coco and Pepper away constantly.
Red does not do this.
I thought about just rehoming Penelope but now that I’ve integrated my teenagers, Coco and Pepper mimic the same behavior with them.

I spend so much time with my birds that I can tell them all apart, even my barred rocks have subtle differences. You can always leg band them too if it’s too hard to tell them apart. Are you getting your next batch of chicks from the same hatchery? I noticed going through MPC
( they are a middle man ) that each hatchery has completely different birds even in the same breed. My ameraucanas couldn’t be more different than one another. Temperament, egg color, feather patterning, weight, even comb width are all different on each bird.

Everybodys chicks arrived safe and sound that is so awesome! Everyone in my batch from yesterday survived the night and are looking fantastic! I'm really pretty shocked these girls are snugglebugs even though they've had a heck of a trip. Lol! I thought faverolles were clingy babies they are nothing compared to speckled sussex that girl is like a magnet.:)

Ordered a white Cochin for my daughter. Pretty sure she's not going to be white.
Thoughts?

I should have just ordered a leghorn. Lol

No, now just hold up. She will be white but with some subtle light gray shading like an old marble statue. The shading is just waaaay more pronounced when they are chicks.:)
