You guys make me want to take mine outside! Gah! They are only a week and a half old or so. But one little guy is super friendly! He's much rather come hangout with us then eat the treats and grit that's left out for them.

I wasn't going to but then 3 of them flew up to the edge of the brooder. I said ok it's time. It is just over 60 and light to no wind. When I took them out of the coop they were still very warm. I was hesitant with the smallest one, but she has pretty much all her feathers and she went to town pecking and flapping. I even brought my calmest dog out there, it looked like sheep herding(no contact with dog) but they did not go into a frenzy flapping and making noise. They were quieter outside then inside.

Took the chicks outside again today. They spent all day out there since it was a warm day (60!)
I decided to take the leap and leave them out overnight.
Around dusk a few decided to venture out into the run, probably as it was getting darker in the coop and still light outside. They found their way back in and they all settled down in their MHP.
Right now it's 33° and they are happily asleep under there. They probably don't even know how cold it is. c:

Here are Moana the Welsummer and Anna the EE learning to navigate the ramp.

Here are my new babies I picked up 1.5 weeks ago. The photo is about a week old as well. They are so stinking cute! I could watch them run around and Chris at each other for hours. I'm very excited to start my new chicken adventures!

Breeds: silver laced wyandotte, barred rock, easter egger, Rhode island red, Delaware, austalorp, black sex link, and golden comet.

Hi all! After two YEARS of planning/wishing for chickens, ours arrive next week on Tues, 3/27 from Cackle. We have 15 ordered, all bantams - 5 EEers, 5 Mille-fiore D'Uccles, and 5 mixed feather-footed. It will be fun to figure out who is what! Our first brooder is set up and ready to go in the laundry room. I imagine by the middle of week 2 we'll need to figure out something a little bigger. Right now we've retrofitted a rabbit house and are using a Titan plate warmer (like the Brinsea) along with a ceramic warming lamp.

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself - this is super exciting, my daughter (age 6) and I CAN'T WAIT! :)
