Name ideas for my unnamed boy!!

Guys can you help me? I’m struggling with a name for him.
Nothing seems to fit.
I had no problem with finding names for Conan, Loki, Agatha, Emily, Frodo & Pippin.
I’ve had a hard time with Silkie and basically that is her name...Silkie.

I was thinking maybe Angus?
Idk...:barnie

He’s on the bottom of the pecking order amongst the boys. He’s skittish of me but not terrified. He’s never shown a lot of aggression but does chest bump and spar with Conan and Loki. He’s got beautiful slate bluish legs. He’s the one I’ll probably end up keeping.

Here’s pics:

Nuttzie or trigger... i love those little naked necks!

But seriously... they look like little buzzards from robin hood!

For some reason he screams Borris to me! What a little cutie he is! I’m glad your newbie Pippin is getting the hang of being a real chicken hopefully Everyone has accepted her as part of the flock. Those pesky introductions are always such a struggle.

Well I made it through another miserably hot day. I got all the wire done, except a small area for the apron. I got all 4 rabbits set up(I made extensions for the hutches do they have more room. Now I just have to work on the coop(re-enforcing, put the net up after the duck house is done(it's being built now) and we are all set. The sun just wouldn't go away today. Then when it did, I got eaten alive by bugs. Such a wonderful day. I can't move and I got cuts all over the place...

So guys my question to yall is how likely are you to recieve a citation for illegal chickens...

We just bought a house and i swore we were in the county but apparently we are right on the city limits inside border. In the city no chicken unless you have 2 acres and 5hen you can have up to 32. I have about 1 acre and will hopefully have 5 total.

I just am scared someone will tell on us. Plus we live in a pretty nice neighborhood with a HOA.

My coop has been on hold throughout this heat wave and till after BBZZZZTT's wedding. There's not too much left to do on it, just put up the side with the window plus all the doors to hang. The hardware cloth is all done except for the human door to the run. The rest is just the pretty stuff like trim. Then the loooong wait till Aug 20 when my little ones are supposed to arrive. At least I have a lot to look forward to until that date comes. Only problem is that bees and wasps keep checking out the coop. We have to keep watching to make sure they don't start building in it.

Oh and the Cooper's Hawk that was hanging around is now gone, probably chased off by the Red-Tailed Hawk that has appeared consistently for weeks!

It depends on how strict your HOA is.
I purposely avoided any home that was in an HOA or had CC&Rs when we were looking last summer.
I gave our Realtor specific instructions that I wanted chickens and didn’t want to deal with HOA foolishness.
I can’t stand anyone telling me how to live.
That’s a bummer about the city limits thing. :barnie
In my town it’s pretty rural so even in city limits you can have 6 hens but no roosters.
You might want to discretely check into what the penalties are if you have the chickens and are discovered or tattled on.
You may simply be required to get rid of them.
Or there may be fines involved.
But after putting all the money into a coop, etc. you may not want to take the chance. Only you can decide.
I’ve heard of HOAs that are barely function and nobody really cares about the “rules “.
I’ve heard of others that are so strict they’re like Nazis.
If your neighborhood is as nice as you say, yours might be the Nazi type lol.
Also, consider that this may be an opportunity for you to get the ball rolling on changing the city and HOA regulations regarding chickens :thumbsup

There is a group in town called the Homesteaders that are trying to change it to be 1/4 acre and of course a much smalled unit number... like 4-6 but currently its only been presented. I wish they would though. Just like any animal it depends on the owners whether or not its out of control. I mean our neighbors have a german shepard and doston that are insane...bark constantly and at random times the dotson slips out of the yard to come harass us and our dogs. I dont care because i know they are just animals and they arent ruining my life but you know some ppl go to the extreme. Im just like honestly how much noise and smell will 4-5 hens create? I guess thats what im more worried about. Most ppl keep chickens and dont really get in trouble until someone complains. And then i think they give you a few warning before ever fining you. I feel like we may risk it. Our little roo will have to find a new place to call home but i really do plan on keeping the girls. Maybe by the time they are outside and about the yard, the law will have changed.

@BBZZZZTT Thats so warm, I’m glad your girls are doing okay. Hopefully it cools down here soon for you guys. We haven’t seen rain in almost three weeks, normally it doesn’t stop raining until June. Does your coop have electrical wired to it? I wish mine did, I’d hook up a fan for them.
Kind of. I have an extension cord running out temporarily for the chicken cam.
I'm going to be leaving for 4 days for the wedding with no one to check on them. This way I can at least peek in on them and if anything looks awry I can try to call a neighbor or something.
After that it is getting de-wired. However, I am trying to get my fiance to add an outlet. That's one of those "someday in the future" type plans.

Newbie here too! I don't have mine yet, but will have them this week at some point. I am being given 25. Uhhhhh......OK. I think that will be plenty. I am sure I will give some away. I have neighbors that have coops as well. I am just going to jump right in! I bought a house that had an existing coop, so I am cleaning that up and sanitizing it this week. These little guys are about 4 weeks old, so I have a feeling that I will need to set up a brooder for about 2 weeks. Any advice?
