[No More Empty Nest]

I went to visit @No More Empty Nest and her chicks today.
Her polish has a crooked beak
Im now calling her Quasimodo. XDView attachment 1526596
Obviously causing her no problems eating or drinking.

Lol! I thought it looked crooked, but I have bifocals and those of you who have them know that sometimes things can look askew. Poor little thing, Quasimoto, lol. And her scraggly head with all her feathers coming in, she's a mess. Although from the front her head doesn't look that bad. And right, she eats and drinks without any problems.

Are these hawks a danger to your chickens?

Oh gosh call MPC and let them know, they’ll comp that little cutie for ya! They comp’d my cross beak and my rooster. I love the name Quasimodo!!!

What is "comp" please?

I think most flock owners do it preventively once a year generally in winter when egg production is already low. They suggest you don’t use it on brooding hens or molting birds.

Over here it is recommended it be done twice a year, autumn and spring

Yes, unfortunately. Though they look pretty scrawny next to my big ole chickens. XD
Not sure if these 'city' hawks would even know to go after a chicken 9.9

It’s not a traditional cross beak, where the beak crosses in opposite directions. Instead the whole thing is crooked!!! That’s a big genetic issue, at the very least I’d let the hatchery know so they can deal with the bird who’s genetically passing that on to the next gen. She’s got quirk!

When I went outside I found TWO hawks on the wire. One flew away, they were calling to each other.

Not sure what happened but MR peeps was flat in the next yesterday AM. DW found him and of course I had to take care of him. On the flip side though it seams that mama is no longer broody.
