[No More Empty Nest]

First egg!!!! I would guess it's from my Australorp Harriet, because she was the first to start squatting, but now 4/8 are squatting! View attachment 1664162

We got a new layer too! My husband found it in a different nest box so now 2 of the 3 nest boxes are being used!

@ChooksNQuilts hi hun, just after some advice please - Jellybean's egg has changed colour, yesterday and today's egg so far, they still have a tinge of olive colour but is a lot darker and looking more like a brown. Is this normal?

That can happen.
It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with her.
Her body is just depositing more pigment on the shell.
Mine do this too sometimes.
Especially, Red, my sex link.
It’ll almost look like someone took a spray brush to the egg lol.

It's a very light green/blue egg. My husband found it and thought it was more blue until we brought it out in the sun.

My baby chicks are growing up fast. They turned two weeks old yesterday. I named them both, I’m almost certain the black baby is a cockerel. The blue is a pullet. I named the black Hawthorne and the Blue Wysteria.

So excited I got 2 green eggs today and my BSL are squatting!

We are picking up the first chicks of 2019 on Saturday! I can’t wait! I am hoping by adding in twos or threes we can keep the brooder off the garage floor and thus stay in hubby’s good graces.
