2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

It's a beautiful day here and I'm tried letting George out of jail to meet the new ducks. Total chaos ensued. He tried to mate everything including the geese. Screaming and running. One of the magpies got stuck in the electric fence and rhythmically screamed along with the current. So George is back in drake jail and Mini keeps vigil just outside the gate. I am sure it was hysterical in a three stooges kind of way. The game cam should have some funny pictures.

sounds like the chaos that ensued when I first got my puppy and she got into the duck run! You just don't know what to do next!

OMG I'm so sorry. Coons travel in packs, seems like every time I catch one, I continue to catch a few for a few nights.

Mini marshmallow trails leading into the trap have worked wonders for me :)

<Knock on wood> its been right at one year since a raccoon wiped out the majority of one of my hens brood, including the momma duck. It actually got into the pool with them and killed around 6 one night, left them laying dead, then got the momma and 2 more a couple nights later. I can't remember how many I caught, but they all had lead as their last meal. :p

Ya, don't relax too much! Where there is one there is more and when those are all gone there will be something else that wants a free meal!

The free-diving school's application box will be out there tonight again, i will try the mini marshmallows as bait…
When i bought the trap at TSC, it was sold with another, smaller trap for weasels, rats, chipmunks and squirrels. Should i bait that one too - i don't want to catch squirrels or chipmunks and haven't seen a rat here.

I do feel really sorry for the ducks, but :gig:lau

Hope your camera caught some funny pictures…

I've caught many a squirrel in mine, un-baited! Usually they are still alive and I release them. They shoot out like a rocket! lol
I've accidentally not checked it soon enough, and have had a few die though. I have a large one and a small one open all the time. Not always baited. The large one seems to do all the catching though. But it wouldn't hurt to set the smaller one too. Could catch some young ones. Just be sure to check it at least every 12 hours or so.
