2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

@SailorNoMore have you ducklings started to quax already? - Mine did that at the age of two weeks. Not quack, quax: Peep, peep, peep, quax
EXACTLY! We can not tell which ones are doing it.
Congrats! So you will have some ducks at least. And yes i was able to identify my Buff-Orpington drake only after grabbing them one by one to put them in a box. He was the only one who only peeped. Everybody else was quaxing.

Too little. My drake is just rasping at ten weeks
Right, drakes develop their grown-up voice late, but the girls start to quax really early, my White Layers started in the middle of the second week and in the third week even my wife could no longer call me screwball… You just need to listen to them very carefully. Buffs, Magpies and White Layers were all quaxing at 2½ weeks. The drakes just continue to peep - or just shut up.

Today Erpelchen, the young Buff Orpington drake from the Spring Ducklings turned into a full blown sex-offender: It started in the morning when he raped himself through three of the Magpie ducks before i could get the hose out and adjust the nozzle from spray to pressure washing.
It went on and on the whole day, i sprayed him down about a dozen times - actually some girls enjoyed it, but then he tried it with Katharina. - Oh boy, she can hiss like a snake and roll over like a cat, so he had to let go of her neck. Off she went and Erpelchen in hot pursue passing by Blanca Duck…

… who saw a tasty curly worm dangling close by, locked on target and grabbed it with surgical precision…
Do you know that drakes can squeak? - Squeak like one of those rubber chicken dog toys!
My legs turned into rubber, i already saw a drake bleeding to death in my mind!
Fortunately that worm wasn't very tasty and Blanca let go.
No Physical harm was done, no bleeding.
He is just a psychological wreck now! He spent the rest of the day together with Limpy in the pool - i filled it up with fresh cold water - rasping about - i don't know. But it was a very intense conversation from drake to drake… And in the evening Erpelchen walked like he was riding a horse from Texas to West Virginia without a saddle!
I hope he's ok and that he has learned his lesson.

@Miss Lydia Thank You! for the tip about using the treat ball. When I first bought meal worms the ducklings refused to eat them, if I offered it to them. When I put them in the treat ball and just left it somewhere in the brooder, surprise, it would never be in the same place and somehow it was emptied with no traces of meal worm remains visible.
Tonight I slowly rolled it into the brooder and one duckling shot it back towards me with the other ducklings scrambling over each other to get at the spilled mealworms. What a difference!

Doubt that very much. Suspect today will be a repeat.
