2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

@Miss Lydia Thank You! for the tip about using the treat ball. When I first bought meal worms the ducklings refused to eat them, if I offered it to them. When I put them in the treat ball and just left it somewhere in the brooder, surprise, it would never be in the same place and somehow it was emptied with no traces of meal worm remains visible.
Tonight I slowly rolled it into the brooder and one duckling shot it back towards me with the other ducklings scrambling over each other to get at the spilled mealworms. What a difference!
Don't they love it. it's so cute to watch them play with it.

Before you release your "Quacken" to the yard, it may be worth to plant some peppermint plats there. I know you have plenty of rain and peppermint grows like weed if it has enough water and ducks love to eat it. I have my peppermint fenced in and everything that grows through the fence is there's. Without the fence they would dig up the plants and eat them hole.

Well my first successful duckling escape occurred today while moving the four from their play pen to their brooder. I put one in the box I use to transfer them then I concentrated on who would be next. My wife was laughing because as soon as I turned my back the duckling leaped out of the box and was running to join the others.
Sneaky little creatures they are! :gig
