2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

I used frozen peas. And @WannaBeHillBilly Ideal is a certified clean facility so you cannot go in. Even the employees have to wear shoe covers and spray themselves with disinfectant before they go get the birds. There is a technical term for this that escapes me now. But you basically get handed your birds though what looks like a bullet proof window. Also, they appear to serve more a commercial market. I think Metzers does more small orders. Think that is part of the difference in quality and price of birds. I have had so much fun with my mixed breeds, I would go back to them. But NO Magpies!!!!

I assume it is called bio-security? But i don't know if that's the correct term. So you think Ideal serves the commercial market and leaves the "b-grade" birds for small orders. That's another reason for me not to buy there!
Yes, i like mixed birds too and i have learned to love my "Magpie" ducks too, but i was kind of disappointed when i opened the box and five almost black ducklings looked at me. They have turned out to have great and calm personalities, have started to trust me more and more and have a sweet way to peep even as adult ducks. - But they don't look like cows with feathers! It's nagging at me!

I think they only have b grade birds not that they give them just to small orders. I love my little muttli 20190817_101335.jpg ngs so. I guess they are c grade but what sweeties. Merde is a gorgeous bird if you ask me.

Unfortunately both drakes. But I did learn runner drakes whistle instead of rasp.
Do they? - Limpy, come here? Can you whistle? - He is shaking his head and rasping: »no, no, no, don't eat me!«
Limpy and Erpelchen (Buff Orpington) have exactly the same rasp! Trust me, i can identify Blanca and Earthquack by their quack! But i have no clue who is rasping when i don't see them.
Maybe a Pekin/Runner mix specialty?
