2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

Here is the first one hatched from the 2019 Anconas, the mother and father are the two closest to the camera. Chocolate Drake and Black & White Hen.

WannaBeHillBilly As I get ready for some well earned sleep I still have three eggs in the incubator. I have four in the MHC in the brooder. I will verify it in the morning but I think that I have two hens and two drakes. If these three still show no sign of life I will bury them. A lot of lessons were learned from this first incubation.

"Magnolia Ducks, I have learned much from each incubation. Unfortunate for the little ducks but you get better and better with each one. I am itching to get the next batch in next weekend

I wish you well on your upcoming next batch. I guess these four will remain in the brooder in my office for three weeks before graduating to the brooder in the garage for another three weeks before joining their parents in the duck house for a few days of integration before they can commingle. If the pandemic is history by that time, my wife and I will be heading to your state to visit relatives in the Dallas and Houston suburbs. Otherwise we will start a second batch this year. The young drakes can stay until they get to the point of challenging their father. They are trying to play in the water and they are not even 24 hours old!
