2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

Pics
ok, one more question. Do you clip their wings so they don't fly away or are there certain types that don't fly? We've got Canadian geese (I think) everywhere around us (in Georgia). There are literally probably 100's flying over our house every single day. I was wondering what kind most people have that raise them. Obviously, I know nothing about geese but I think they are pretty cool and I hear they keep predators away.
I believe the trick with geese is kinda like the small/ medium ducks. Get them fat before they develope the muscles to fly.keep them fed and they do not have a reason to fly.

I have updated the daily progress page from the ducklings article, my ducklings have gained weight like crazy! The heaviest duckling clocks in now at 125 grams, almost has quadrupled her weight:
full

I think i must have an eye on the Magpie duckling with the blue ring, it looks like she is falling behind, lowest weight of all ducklings for three days…

Update on Forest: It seems that she has found her leg back! In the banana video
you can see her at 33 seconds, slightly moving her right leg. Today she pulled out her shoe and was tapping her foot on the ground. In the evening i found the time to make a hobble for her:

Just two zip-ties, a piece of gift wrap-band and Duck-Tape.
I put it on her legs:

And she hates it! "Take it off", she is yelling!

I hope i made it correct, first hobble i built. This is how it sits on Forest:

Anyone with more »Hobble-Experience« here? Please tell me i did good, it was a fight to get it on her, she is a tough cookie - duckling!

I thought I was the only one who did stuff this this!

I think monitoring the ducklings weight is very important. Would I have done this with last year's ducklings, I would have discovered that one of them was straggling and likely had not lost it to hypothermia. Experience can only be replaced with more experience...

They are African geese. Don't fly and get eaten just like the ducks.
