Now that sounds disturbing…They are African geese. Don't fly and get eaten just like the ducks.

Thank you very much! - I saw her hobbling around yesterday, she tried to put her right leg down, but it slipped sideways. So i think giving the leg some more support is worth a try. I will keep a close eye on her for sure.I probably wouldn't hobble her as her problem isn't niacin related but an injury. A hobble might make it worse. That said, that's a fine hobble
OMGGGG she is the most adorable baby i've seen!!!!!! So glad the leg is coming alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WATCHING!!Update on Forest: It seems that she has found her leg back! In the banana video
you can see her at 33 seconds, slightly moving her right leg. Today she pulled out her shoe and was tapping her foot on the ground. In the evening i found the time to make a hobble for her:
Just two zip-ties, a piece of gift wrap-band and Duck-Tape.
I put it on her legs:
And she hates it! "Take it off", she is yelling!
I hope i made it correct, first hobble i built. This is how it sits on Forest:
Anyone with more »Hobble-Experience« here? Please tell me i did good, it was a fight to get it on her, she is a tough cookie - duckling!
Thank you very much! Feel free to use it and modify it for your ducklings purposes.I love your spreadsheet!
I bought this kitchen scale with a stainless steel bowl that can weight up to 12lbs (5.4 KG). The ducklings start to jump out of the bowl, before i put them into the bowl, i have them sitting on my chest for a minute, pet them, talk to them to calm them down and then its just a matter of 2-3 seconds and i have their weight. I will add a paper strip to the rim of the bowl today to keep up with the ducklings growth. What kind of a scale do you use? I've got a really small one that I use in the kitchen to weigh food. I wonder if I could put a plastic bowl on it and put the duck in it?
For grown up birds you could use a baby-scale like this. That's what my vet was using last year when she weighted Limpy. - If you can make your birds sit on that! I would have to Duck-Tape my Duckies to make them sit still…I have a bath room scale digital I weight myself then pick up the bird and weigh us both Then subtract. I am not sure you could do a large duck on a kitchen scale .
