2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

Pics
Duckling update: Bathing, swimming, splashing and diving takes a toll on ducklings! Most of them held their weight today or even lost some. Magpie blue and Buff Orpington violet are back on the last two spots.

The spreadsheet has been updated and so has the article page.

Duckling Magic - How to make a sweet potato disappear?

As an apology for today's duckling-torture - i grabbed them all again and had them sit still in the scale-bowl - they got a huge mashed sweet potato…
Then my phone's memory was full and i had to delete some older videos to continue recording:
And in the end, nothing but an empty bowl was left…

More pictures in the Spring Duckling Album.

Was this sweet potato cooked?

Piggly Wiggly is nice! They have good prices and during the summer months they sell local fruits and vegetables, which i appreciate very much.
With the bread, my colleagues often ask me »What is typically German Food« and all i come back with is the bread. There is really some culture about bread in Germany, we have countless different types of bread and very few people buy it in supermarkets (Aldi!) because the quality there is so poor.
The typical stereotypes of "German" food, the "Bratwurst" with "Sauerkraut" are not typical German. Sausage recipes have been invented all over Europe (Polish Kielbasa and Romanian Carnati, for example) and Sauerkraut is popular almost everywhere. And also beer isn't special for Germany, think about Budweiser from the Czech republic…
But the bread is really unique in Germany! If you ever travel to Germany try a »Brötchen mit Schinken« (Bread-roll with ham)! - Now i'm hungry… :lau
Mmmm that sounds amazing!

No more Duckling updates!
Sorry, but there won't be any more updates on the ducklings weight progress after yesterdays disaster: Tried to put the largest White Layer (green) on the scale and she put up a formidable fight!
My arms look like i hugged a roll of barb-wire from her claws and when i thought i had calmed her down she pooped - all over me!
While trying to put her down into the scale-bowl she took another shot straight into my face. :sick :sick :sick
Finally she kicked the scale and the bowl off the table and bit me in the back of my hands - i gave up and set her her back down into the brooder.
I think she made her point very clear: No more duckling weighting! :(
They all have turned from sweet cuddly fluffballs into rebellious, meal-worm addicted teenagers, it is that age when they don't like to be touched at all.

After a long thoroughly shower i had them play another round of soccer:
