2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

I imagine you do. Since we have hardware cloth over every opening we’ve never had one get inside our coops. They are nasty predators I have seen mink down at the river and weasel running across the road so we know we have them. Along with everything else except grisly bear and wolf although someone hit an animal that the game warden said looked like a wolf/ dog hybrid. No telling what’s out there any more

I haven't seen any of those around here, which of course means nothing, but i have captured plenty of stray "house" cats on my trail-cam which is also a concern…

@WannaBeHillBilly I checked my magpies this evening when I put them up. They both have a couple of purple feathers on each side where yours do. Not as many as yours but they are there. I don't think they are supposed to be their either, but I like them.
Yehaw! We have special ducks! ;)

Update on the Racoon-situation: There was a terrible accident today, in the morning a racoon had successfully entered the free-diving-school's application box:

And then there was that terrible diving accident, it all happened so fast i can't even wrap my mind around it and i lost my first student:
Look at his fangs:

This was a male 'coon, so no abandoned young will die. He was aggressive in the trap, tried to scratch and bite me through the cage. Now my duckies can sleep quiet and safe!
