I will try but will probably have to get them through the window. These are the friendliest little ducks ever. My first experience with runners , actually mixes, so I don't know if it's breed, because I hatched them or because I talked to them everyday in the shell. First time I had ducks want to jump out of the brooder to get to me not away from me.
They are just the cutest things.. I can tell you my Runners I have brooded myself are much more affectionate and friendly than the ones my Muscovy's hatched in 2016 and these ducklings are their kids.
Magnolia Ducks, @SailorNoMore I use large plastic mixing bowls from the dollar store. The bigger the better. They can't turn them over though the sometimes get in and splash around. They all at a have water when I change them ☝ a day. Icky water but water none the less. If I was not gone more than two nights I think they would make it fine with two or three of these. I will take a picture later when I go up to try to wrap my Angel wing goose again sigh.
@Magnolia Ducks Thank You, I stopped by a Dollar Tree store and found serving bowls that are 12" across the top and 6" across the base. At home I measured a gallon and a half when filled in place. I took a partial filled one out to their play pen. Sure enough they made a mess walking through it but they were not able to tip it over. Their brooder is 3 foot across so I could leave three of them across the bottom of their brooder and two food containers at the other end of the five foot long brooder. With spending one night away from home I am sure that I would come back Sunday afternoon to a flooded mess but all four ducklings would be alive. I normally clean their brooder twice a day.
Unbelievable how fast ducklings grow into ducks, isn't it?! I can still not believe that it was just five months and two weeks ago when my little fluff-butts arrived. Now they're laying eggs…
