2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

Well at 24 weeks, I now have two of four hens laying. The first one has been consistent and the second one started this morning. My only problem is that the original one has chosen the corner under one of the two wall mounted feeders to have her nest. For two days now I have cracked eggs because of where she decides is her personal corner. Any suggestions on how to convince her choose a less busy place to deposit her egg?

Any way you can block it off? They don’t always make the best decisions on where to make a nest for laying.

We have been boiling about 15 minutes........turning the heat off after 13 and letting them sit in hot water for another 20 or so.

I think 10 is enough
After it comes to a boil. Then ice bath. I like them a little less done.

Make her a nest box and put a fake egg in it.

I have a duck with a sense of humor! Out of four girls, one is consistent in laying everyday, one is sporadic, someone gave us a single double yolker. This morning when I opened the door, instead of the usual two eggs there were three! The usual two I expect and the treat ball. It has never been in the nest before! I roared in laughter.
