2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

@Magnolia Ducks Holy crap, so dark here under a tornado warning, hail and 70 mile an hour winds. Time to cower in the closet with the dog and fill up the tub.

Thank You! Your words convince us that you have the experience to survive, if it can be done. We hope that your livestock and garden escaped most of it. Can the flooding destroy anything of value on your property? Is this area located on some of your orphan property thanks to the Texas Highway Department?

No of course the state is taking the high land not the bottom land. My back gate is under 4 to 6 feet of water 3 or 4 times a year. Whenever there is a hurricane and after checking the rain gauge we got 4 3/4 inches in about an hour. It goes down fast too. The garden seems to have made it. Was it the till up the tub comment? First thing I learned after moving to the country.

Any better yet?
Our bridge is still there, but i don't dare driving over it until i got into my rubber boots and visually inspected it from underneath. And right now the creek would still be way over my boots. - Not that i would dare wading into that creek at the moment, even with taller boots…

Your comment triggered a flashback to the memories of the death of a friend on his first night of a well earned retirement. He wanted to go back to Chicago to see relatives before continuing on with his plans. He drove and spent the night in a small town motel in tornado alley. There was only one causality in that town that night. It changed how I viewed retirement. We shut down our respective business's and became travelers for 10 or 12 years while we still had the best health to camp. We would winter at home in New Mexico and plan what group of states to see and live in when their weather permitted. We hit all but three of the lower 48 that I spent a good chunk of my life in the military for. Had he known what you do he might of had a fighting chance of enjoying more than just day one of retirement.

I can't wait 'till Sunday or Monday! Pinball has not left her nest since yesterday morning. I'm sure she can feel the babies sloshing around in their egg-shells. - How long can a duck survive without drinking or eating? Offered her some meal-worms and water and was just ignored. She is in lockdown-trance, today is day 24…
