I use a produce like this for my cats! I wouldn't leave it outside though and think its safe from rodents, rats can chew through that in a matter of hours.

Currently keep my feed in plastic trash can, inside a steel tub, on 1 foot raised playhouse porch, and don't have any problems. Don't have a rat problem where I'm at, field mice but the roaming cats take care of them pretty good. Now I do have a frog problem, they love our little goldfish pond
