A blanket over the incubator will help insulate them. They might hatch a bit later.
one of our broody hens stopped sitting last year because there was mites in the nest and I didn’t put them into the incubator until the day after and the majority of them still hatched. Hopefully the power goes back on soon.
Called emergency people and they came out, neighbor's barn roof had come completely off and when it did that started a tree domino effect till last one hit some hidden power lines. Fire department and the electric delivery people came assessed that it wouldn't explode into more flames and called for tree cutting group to come and get as much as they could away from it.... we're still waiting on them to come out but after last night they are swamped!! we had wind gust up to 70mph!!! I'm very glad all the chickens are ok this morning.
Horrible day yesterday.. woke up to a dead broody hen and found out that there was a mite infestation in the nest box.
so I moved the other broody hen that’s hatching her and the dead broody hens eggs into the nesting coop that I made. 5 chicks have hatched now, one more egg to go.
I cleaned the nest box out for Luna since she’s still in there sitting on her eggs and I’m going clean out the bedding again today and spray everything in the coop.
I do have Diatomaceous earth but I heard that it can be bad for their lungs..? So I figured the chickens will have their usual dust bath and kill whatever mites are on them.
They are so adorable!

I can't believe that you were able to get any sleep at all! I hope they come and get it taken care of soon!thank you for that tip!!! We did that and then this morning I candled a couple and they're still moving and grooving in there! WooT!! we ended up being out of power for 3 hours. They got everyone up and then our neighbor and us kept flickering and then i saw flames!!

The tall tree to the left of the pole has branches leaning on the exposed powerline. it's sparking each time a leaf or branch makes contact, but you can't see it in the light.
I got an hour of sleep last night and about 2 and a half this morning... i'm hoping to pass out again soon.

I'm so sorry that you lost your hen, poor girl. She was so faithful to keep sitting on her eggs, what a good mama!

they are so stinking cute!! and that dark colored one!! I'm in love!!!!
now the nail biting wait. I'm only worried about one as it has a slipped air cell that is down by the small end. but everyone looks good even the waxed egg. That one i'm leaving waxed for now i've read the chicks can get through it no issues, so we'll see!
