Well I'm sitting here with no power and the fix time keeps getting moved. Two hours now with no power. Not sure how well the eggs are going to do... And more storms coming in a few hours. :barnie:hit

A blanket over the incubator will help insulate them. They might hatch a bit later.
one of our broody hens stopped sitting last year because there was mites in the nest and I didn’t put them into the incubator until the day after and the majority of them still hatched. Hopefully the power goes back on soon.:fl

Horrible day yesterday.. woke up to a dead broody hen and found out that there was a mite infestation in the nest box. :sick
so I moved the other broody hen that’s hatching her and the dead broody hens eggs into the nesting coop that I made. 5 chicks have hatched now, one more egg to go.
I cleaned the nest box out for Luna since she’s still in there sitting on her eggs and I’m going clean out the bedding again today and spray everything in the coop.
I do have Diatomaceous earth but I heard that it can be bad for their lungs..? So I figured the chickens will have their usual dust bath and kill whatever mites are on them.

This is the first chick.
I will get photos of the others once they’re all hatched. :)

@Brahmachicken240 can i make a question? it's about the respiratory disease that you were dealing with some time ago... Can you tell me how it will do when you will add the chicks to your flock? I'd really love to hatch something but i (don't know even why) fear i could make a mess! I really hope the better things for your awesome flock :love:love:love

The hens haven’t showed any symptoms since that last time I treated them.
The vet thought they had IB and the wood shavings that I was using at the time were making it worse.
The chicks have been hatched with the flock and all seem happy and healthy.
I have all the medicine I need for them if I have to use it.
