Which came first: the chicken or the egg?

All you folks are awesome, you inspire me every day to try and be a better person(not that I was a bad person). Some things about myself; Husband of 22 years, father to two wonderful girls(although I still don't understand them), confessed hatchahaulic. I currently am in charge of 17 electricians in a large local industrial plant and I have 3 mature hens, 3 almost there hens, 1 rooster, and about 20 biddies in a couple of brooders. I have about 16 eggs in two different incubators. They are Dominique(one dozen) and hybrids of Swedish flower roo over RIR, BO, and barred rock. And if that wasn't enough, our only(thankfully) grandchild loves spending time around the chickens, especially the biddies. here are a couple of pics from current birds and birds from the past;
