2021 Chick Order

Pics
Later is warmer is better and May is ok! ( I try to set broodies in July so chicks are feathered out by September)
Except that 4h cut off is may 14th and I was wanting to sell extra birds to kids looking to fill classes, hence trying to get them all as early as possible (we've gotten them this early before too and have not had so many problems like this ear. Not one order gone through 100% smoothly this year 😅

Oh! I see why you would want purebreds, so 4H kids have something to raise and exhibit. :thumbsup

(4H was not allowed where I grew up)

Yeah, unfortunately mixed birds don't do as well outside of showmanship. And most of what I'm getting in is nothing like what you can just pick up at the local tsc

Alright, it's official

Also @VeryHappyHens , I didn't forget pictures of the Isabellas in case you were worried, I just didn't want to show off the ones that hadn't made it in the package. I will say though they were a beautiful almost light purple color down and the live ones will be too beautiful not to share

did at least some make it?

None of the order made it. They. Were in transit almost 5 days due to missing a connection. They're putting the ones I needed in the incubator on the next set day so they can try and get it out to me asap though
Yes it’s awful that baby chickens died. Weather conditions are not making it easier. However, I want to hear that every household in America who needs chickens can have them.

Yeah, it was nice one of our senators did a post to the post office about shipping chicks and why they have to get their ducks in a row.

Hoping this week's orders work out bettwr

So I have one silkie I'm a bit iffy on. It just doesn't seem to be growing or eating very well. I did try to make a mash but no one seemed interested in that, even the other pigs, er, I mean silkies 😆

I also have a Cochin frizzle that is either a runt or is actually the only Frizzle bantam because the other 4 or 5 are almost 2x their size. The barred ones are in the middle so they're no help.

With barreds, do the males or the females have a large head spot? I have 2 of one and 1 of the other and am hoping that I have 2 girls. I guess I'll know in a few weeks when they feather out, but I'm not the most patient 😅
