2021 Chick Order

Also stopping at shiptons and tsc. Hoping for st. Run naked necks because I'm not able to keep my male. Poor Atlas had something go wrong and now his toes are all dead. I'm really not sure what happened.

Whooo! I managed to place 3 of my little boys for 5 a piece. Lost a bit of money over all factoring food and electricity, but I got the initial price back and I have 3 less to process in June.

1 barred Cochin bantam and 2 of the frizzled Cochin bantams.

17 chicks came today from Murray McMurray.

15 perfectly healthy
1 I have hopes to make a come back
One has something wrong with its leg. I can't extend out, but isn't swollen or showing any reason not to be working. She gets around fine, but you can tell by watching who she is.

Interesting reading through your entire thread, so many cute chicks! I think your extra chick from McMurray is a Bielefelder male? Just my guess. And my shipment of chicks from McMurray is one day behind you, so based off your timing I think I can expect a call early tomorrow morning.

Hmm. I wouldn't mind that breed. I had thought it was something that started with a J (can't think of the name though, sounded maybe German or dutch?), but apparently the only hatchery that has that breed I ordered from is IDEAL

More still on their way. Unfortunately so far (hoping the number improves as I added all the birds even the ones not here yet to the equation) out of all the birds I've ordered total, I'm down to a third that have survived. Though since part of it is including birds that are literally hatching as I type to be sent, it should get markedly better

Are you thinking of Jaerhon? Ideal lists them as Norwegian Jaerhon, so I assume the name is Norwegian too.

When I saw the photo of your mystery chick, I did wonder if it was a Jaerhon. Maybe McMurray is just starting to breed them, and will offer them for sale in a year or two?

I'll be curious to see how it looks as it grows!

I did lose the one that wasn't doing too hot. Little red leghorn gal,

The silver gal with the bad leg is doing okay, but I did notice a bit of swelling, probably from her using it and half dragging it. I'm looking at it more tomorrow after I'm done with homework, I'm just exhausted tonight.
