2022 Chicks - Cackle Experience

Imagine working in a hatchery….they’d have to check my sweatshirt pocket and purse every time I punched out! 😂

I’ll take one of these, and one of those, and one of this kind….lol!
Don't mind me, I'm just gonna take a sampling of the week... It's gonna be tough enough not keeping all the chicks we hatch even though the goal will be to sell them locally.

Nope All good! Gave me a bit of a scare there. My home town office has someone cough"allergic"cough so chicks are kept Outside.
How... What... Just no. They can't be kept outside! Those poor chicks.

It's been a long day between chicks, work, irrigation crew management, and garden projects. Got all the chicks leg banded with zip ties, recorded the breed and tie color/leg side, and 6 poopy butts cleaned. Gonna follow this ones lead and crash now. Individual pictures to come over the next few days. I'm still not sure on the mystery chick if it's a lighter Wyandotte or an EE with similar striped markings.

There are two little floofs with the loudest chirping voices I have ever heard. They've gotten water and food into them that I've seen, they can move around and get to different temperature zones in the brooder. I'm stumped other than they like to hear each other. It will go quiet for a few minutes then one will start and the other will respond and then it's just nonstop jabbering. Both Americaunas.
I ordered Splash Ameraucanas from Cackle Hatchery this year as well and can confirm they're generally louder and more shrill than the Splash Laced Red Wyandottes that were the second half of my order 🙉 Hopefully they don't continue to be as loud when they grow up, fingers crossed! I had a Production Blue chick once that I nicknamed Car Alarm that continued to earn its nickname into adulthood, haha...

Seems like Cackle isn't as generous with the extras as they used to be 🤔 Maybe because of the higher demand for chicks nowadays? Whenever I ordered with them, they were very generous. Maybe it's got something to do with the breeds. Before I got to this last page and update on the BlackLR Wyandotte, I counted the fluffies 🧐 and got 22 all 3 times, then I went back and noticed your order was for 23 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank you for the clarification. Gosh, those chicks are so adorable! It's been over a year since I've had chicks here and after seeing your pics, I'm finding myself coming down with chick fever 💕 Can't wait to see individual pics. I hope the weaker chicks are doing better now. Congratulations! Thank you for sharing
