My goal is to have my Australorps being my only brown layers, California Whites as white layers, French Cuckoo Marans as my dark brown layers, and ???? for blue layers.

I think that an entire flock of California Whites would drive me crazy, but they're the dash of hot sauce on top of my mellow, laid-back flock.

They're livelier and more mischievous than my mellow, laid-back Australorps.

Chipotle, who has been sold now, was the only bird I had who was smart enough to fly back into a pen she flew out of.

Her son was named "Mischief" because he was the ringleader of "The Hooligans", my Easter hatch, in their antics of unauthorized free-ranging, etc.

I have heard good things about Cream Legbars…I have 2 that I hatched last year but they are in the farm flock so they aren’t as tame as my pampered home girls…lol, so I have no idea how they would be temperament-wise. They are not super flighty so far…

Well, 7 of the 13 aren't pure Australorp after all.

I noticed a rose comb on a chick last weekend and didn't have time to figure out what was going on. I *thought* I'd sold all my rose-combed hens. Then I noticed one more, but thought she wasn't laying yet.

But in addition to the 4 feather-footed chicks who are the children of the over-achieving, molting Silver-Laced Cochin, I have 3 rose-combed chicks. *sigh*

I'll be putting those 7 up for sale. Anyone in central North Carolina want some Australorp Cross chicks? Straight run. $5 each with a discount for taking all of them.

They look great! After much debate with myself mostly, on which breeds to add to my layer flock, I am getting 3 blue Australorps in 2 weeks from a seller that is having them shipped over from Ideal hatchery. The choice is mostly out of convenience, as easier than having birds shipped over myself, but also because of your threads about this lovely breed.
