On the other hand, there is a breeder in Vernon I would not deal with, runs by the name of the Animal Farm, he tends to deal in Auctions an awful lot and gets alot of sick birds and will not make it right when he sells sick animals.

I listed I had bought 23 chicks. Well all but 12 are dead. I have no idea what has happened. I never had this issue when I raised my other chicks. I called the guy who I bought thme from Ken, and asked if he had anymore, just to see , cause I got so many bantams, and so forth. Its hard to find them around here.

He said he had not been to the auction recently.


I should have known better, I trusted him, he seems on the level. I guess I should have thought it to good to be true.

Anyhow, I have lost all but 2 Bantams, all Easter Eggers, its a sad week.

I am very sorry that this happened to you, and you may consider me unkind, but rest assured I am addressing not only you.

I am always mystified that we spend even a moment to save a few pennies on cheap chicks, when we all know that the cost of the chick is only the very beginning of what the real expense of keeping chickens will be.

Spend good money for good chicks from reputable folks and you start with the best chance for success. I have said many times that for the cost of a trip to a fast food joint with the family we could save ourselves a ton of heartache by buying from those that care and spending money to reward those folks that care.
