24 hour old chick with legs and feet issue.

Besides making a shoe out of tape and riboflavin (b2) for the curled under toes and leg issue, you can place her in a small wine glass, shot glass or padded cup to try and stand supported, which will help strengthen the legs and keep her upright. Offer chick crumbles, some wet ones, and egg yolk along with water. Placing a little bottle cap in front of her that hold food or water helps. Chick slings may be helpful to get her in front of food as well.

Thank you! I've been giving her super B complex mixed in water by syringe every few hours since she hatched. The boot seems to help her stabilize to hop around better. What is a chick sling and how do I make one? Im going to look at the links right now.

This was my first attempt at a chick sling. As you can see, Seal's wings didn't fit. Lol

You can see her legs not fully extending.

So, I tried a wide mouth quart mason jar and that seems to do the trick.

I'm going too boot her and try to straighten out her legs. The left one will not straighten all the way out, and the right one almost does.
I used an old no-show sock and a rubber band. Now I have to figure out how to have food for her. Also, none of the research mentioned the poo. She will essentially just be sitting in it. Any ideas?
Thanks for all your help thus far!!!

Check this out: https://www.backyardchickens.com/gallery/chick-chair-splayed-legs.7934062/ from right here on this great site.

What I like about this one is the little attached feeder and waterer, plus the little feet can touch the floor, which I think is an important feature so the little chick has a chance to practice standing and get proper foot positioning, etc.

Please explain what is going on with her poo, I guess I missed that part. Is it because of her sitting in it all the time and it gets stuck on her bottom, or does she have bad poo?

It looks like a baby bounce chair, I like it. It looks like vet wrap was used to make the sling seat. That's given me an idea...🤔💡

Apparently, she has good poo. I've yet to see it, but my husband said she pood in his hand this morning and it was a normal ball of chick poo. I was worried in the sling she would just sit in the poo, but the new one I'm going to make, that won't be an issue. I'll use the vet wrap in a X and leave the cloaca uncovered. Once I figure this out, I'll post it. Thank you so much! I really want this baby to live and at least be comfortable.

I'm cheering for the little peep! ❤️

Ok. Here is what I've made now. The first version had vet wrap as a seat, and it worked well with one of my other chicks with good legs and feet, so if Seal's only issue was slipped tendons. Well, Seal has legs that won't straighten all the way, so she is able to get her leg up on the left side, even taped. I went back to the sock, and just cut a hole for the butt. The chair is two pieces to make things easier. Boy, does this chick hate it!!!

How positively ingenious! Great job on this customized solution for one lucky little peep! And, well, Seal's feistiness is a good thing, shows her fight to live!
