24 hour old chick with legs and feet issue.

Here is Seal with just her knees taped. The booties I made her have mostly fixed the curled toes. I'm leaving them off for now.
Seal is just so adorable. I see how her toes are so much better now and her mobility has improved from your first video! In the beginning of the video where she is standing, she's looking down at her legs as if to say, "Mamma, what is going on down here?" Quite the vocal little thing, so much to tell you!

How positively ingenious! Great job on this customized solution for one lucky little peep! And, well, Seal's feistiness is a good thing, shows her fight to live!
:love
Thankbyou so much! I need the affirmation because I feel like I did this to Seal in my ignorance, being my first time using an incubator. Seal is strong! The people I bought the hatching eggs have super healthy, giant, large fowl cochins. I was shipped five eggs. FOUR hatched!! That's an amazing hatch rate for shipped eggs. That's why I'm sure Seal's issue was my fault. This bird will have everything it needs to live a long and happy life, even if it becomes a house bird in a wheel chair. My good friend has a 3D printer, and we are already discussing "bionic" leg splints. :lau

Seal is lucky to have you! It's easy to blame yourself, but try to still this little beast! I understand, I second guess everything that doesn't go right! I was thinking, looking at the video, you could fashion a sling for her to hold her up and let her wiggle and move her legs, touching them to a nonslick surface to give her exercise and mobility time. If you are able, I would hold her, say, when you are decompressing for the day, and gently massage her legs, moving them, kind of like mini-chick physical therapy!

Seal was NOT happy with the knee taping! The little bugger kept trying to viciously peck me. I keep calling her a she, but my heart is saying Seal is going to be a he. That would not be ideal, with the crowing and all, but whatever Seal turns out being, I'll love them and make sure they are well cared for.
And I thought it was hilarious when Seal looked at their legs like, "Dude. What the fresh hell is THIS?"

Quite the little 'tude on this one! I'm with you on the roo thing, but cross that bridge later, right now this little one is benefiting from your great creativity!

Yes! I have been massaging and "bicycling" her legs. Making sure the circulation is good. Her feet are a darker pink than the healthy chick's feet.
In her sling chair her feet do touch the floor. I just need to put something under her that's not as slippery as the table when she's on it. Her new home while in the sling chair will be a tote with hemp bedding. I've raised a brooder plate all the way up for her to be under for warmth. She can push up to touch the plate if she wants to.

Ahhhh, darker pink... Hmmmm, that could be indicative of circulation issues,...? She may just not be able to properly feel her legs! Food for thought, so really good your are bicycling with her. I was also curious that when you touched her little toes in the video, they did not seem to respond or curl. I would have expected some response, or maybe I missed something. But now that you mention the coloration, it's starting to make sense.

Vascular neuropathy. That's where you have numbness due to lack of circulation in your feet and legs. I have it in my feet due to MS and it turns my feet, especially my toes, red and purple. It's weird. I wonder if Seal has something like that. She can move her feet and toes, but it's not in a reflex sort of way.
Well, all I can do is continue to work with her. She's half the size of her siblings because she isn't really eating. She goes to the food dish, but I don't know if she is actually eating. I give her the B complex water that I've added some food to with a syringe, throughout the day, and I've started putting wet food crumbs on the syringe to get her to eat some. I'm not forcing, I'm using the syringe like a pipette. Putting small drops on the end of her beak for her to swallow. Sometimes I can get crumbs of food in her mouth and she eats them. Speaking of... I'm being summoned by the little peep scream. Seal is hungry. 😆
