Is it normal for a ducking to pup and zip then see no progress for over 24 hours?
It's the last surviving baby so I'm feeling extra nervous about not stepping in if needed!

It's been peeping and rocking and generally seeming like it's trying to get out, with no change.
It's normal for a zip to leave a little "hinge" of shell unbroken, right?

If it was trying to zip the shell, you can slowly start peeling the shell away bit by bit, if you see any veins or the duckling yawning stop, and set him back in the incubator.

Thanks. There were still two more internally pipped and peeping when I went to bed last night. Not sure where those went wrong except maybe I took the advice to keep the safety hole small a little too much?
Really really trying not to screw this one up!

Yes, the hole should be small enough that you don't risk the premature drying out of the membrane, if they are still making peeps/moving around, I wouldn't be concerned.

What is this dark area?

They're not. :(
I haven't pulled them yet, just in case I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

What is this dark spot? The feathers on other side are clearly yellow
