24+ hours at "zipped" stage?

I managed to get the top loose and he started thrashing madly. The back of its neck was stuck to the shell so hard that I ended having to dip it in a bowl of water to loosen whatever the "glue" was.
Unfortunately, it looks like it has deformed feet and it still freaking out trying to stand.

It doesn't seem to be able to uncurl it

It may have been malpositioned throughout incubation, I would leave him be for a while, and see if it corrects itself. If it doesn't, some sort of bandage may be needed to correctly fix it back into place. It will take newborn ducklings a while to be even able to walk, so that is not uncommon.

I hope so!
Maybe it's because the ducking was stuck so it had a lot of time to rest and isn't tired? It wants to get up and GO and can't figure it out. He's scraping his skin raw on the hatcher floor.

get something soft under him so he doesn't do that! Or take him out and put him in the brooder.

Yep. I put a rag in there. Thought it might also make it cozy enough to take a little nap, but no luck so far.
Just about fluffed out, which is good because it's just started picking at the edges of the rag, so needs to get out of there!
