I've always just set mine in the brooder, they seem to be fine by themselves for the night. I turn like crazy in bed, so the duckling would most likely be crushed if it were with me.

Just hatched yesterday, same as ours.
It wasn't so much a "pick" as "OMG - you're within driving distance and have bantam ducklings? Can I come get one? Please!" But I think they'll be cool additions to the flock.

And we'll hopefully be getting more Pachaug Forest Ducks, too, next week.
