24+ hours at "zipped" stage?

Once my babies get to moving around all over the incubator I get them out. I take their gross shells out too. I've never had an issue with doing that. They dry off much quicker in the brooder too.

I cleaned out the incubator and dropped the temp, then put him back in there. For now at least. I think he thinks the fan is mom. Poor guy hadn't stopped peeping since hatch. He's calmly grooming himself in the familiar incubator and not doing the "I'm lost! Come find me!" alarm like he was every moment in the brooder I set up.
I think he might finally take a nap. I might, too - been up to check on the incubator several times a night all week!

What a cutie! I'm glad he made it. Ducklings do not like to be alone and will peep incessantly. They will bond to you. When I've had just one hatch, I kept it on my when I could. Next to your skin they will fall asleep. I've carried many in my bra and slept with them under my shirt. But if you really want quiet, get it a buddy. Ducklings prefer ducklings but will accept chicks or poults as friends. I'm sure happy he's a feisty little one for you.

I've been talking with someone local-ish who might have a duckling or two for me.
I hope so. I'd go grab a friend from tractor supply just to keep him company, but in NY you can't buy less than 6. And since he's a brand new bantam, the week old Pekins they usually seem to have are a bit of a size mismatch anyway.
