24 weeks and no eggs?

So today I went out to check on the chickens as usual, figured I would need to change their water, I got out and look and theres a egg sitting right under the waterer! Its different though, it its darker and more of a pinkish color with SUPER tiny white speckles, you can't really see them in the picture, but anys it weighed 41 grams compared to the one that was 39 yesterday... I almost certain is was a different chicken, could this be the work of my Buff Orpington Buttercup??? She was making more noise and she was squating, well she squated, once. Ok so the new one is on the left, I made the picture "large" so you can see the white speckles better, sorry to all you with slow computers...

I got a beatiful little egg today sitting right next to the door way! When I got home today I went to check on them as always and I realized they hadn't pushed their door open; usually I crack it about and inch or two at night and in the morning they push it open, but anyways I opened it up and I though I was an egg through the door way, and I got all excited, and hurried over and opened up the side door and there it was!
It's really small, I weighed it, only 39 grams, but its a first egg! Good job girl! Actually I'm thinking it was Kim who laid the egg, she was masking a good amount of noise and from what I've heard Orpingtons eggs look like, this doesn't look like one.

YAY!!!! Congratulations! That kind of looks like my Orp egg (touching my thumb). She lays almost round ones, very light tan. I'm so happy for you, I knew this day would come!

It does happen all of a sudden, doesn't it? Once one goes, they all do! Now I have 2 dozen in my fridge and it's all we've eaten for weeks now, LOL! I feel like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co...scrambled eggs, Eggs Benedict, quiche, omelets, fried egg sandwiches, egg fu yung, lol

Oh and yes, I have 4 different breeds and they all lay different color/shape eggs. I can tell whose is whose immediately. If the egg looks different, it's from a different chicken! They sometimes vary in speckledness or size or sometimes the shell is striated but they always have the same base trait. One is very long and dark, one is very round and light, one is a perfect oval and in the middle of the other two in color and then there's the green ones :)

I bought my chickens from tracter suppy also. My chicken friday will be 27 weeks . I pick them up April 6. I just would like some eggs. I have 5 sexlinks and 8 domonque chickens. 2 Rooster they just started crowing. Just need some eggs please. thanks for listening.

Oh I love dominques... I hope they starting laying for you soon! I would always here people say that and think, that'll never happen, I swear, and you know, once one starts, it kicks off the rest, one of mine started laying yesterday, since them I've gotten 3 eggs. My buff Orpington is 28 or 29 weeks and laid her first egg today! They start, I promise! Good luck! :)

Ok so when out to get eggs this morning, sitting in the run, was a completely shatered egg.... FORTUNATELY none of the chickens had actually eaten it, it had just been stepped on or something... And went to check inside and found one more egg, from the top, it was a very beatiful egg, but it had a peck in it, but it didn't actualy get past the egg membrane, it just pushed a piece of the shell inward alittle. I look at the insides and both of the yolks were very healthy looking. So I think all or 3/4 are laying now...

Any one know what kind of chicken this is from?

So, i decided to take some of the golf balls and place them right where the eggs were layed, they have been layed in 3 different spots now.... And nugget, our white/golden sexlink became pretty curious and poked it alittle, then lost interest.

Oh, yeah well every once in a while I see someone who is all panicked like "MY CHICKENS ARE 20 WEEKS OLD WHY AREN'T THEY LAYING ARE THEY BROKEN OR SOMETHING????"
And I think "uhm..... no?......."
But today some people working on the sprinkler came over and talked to me because they were wondering what a noise was. What noise was Kim, my RIR, who was almost SCREAMING. It was nothing like a crow from a rooster or like the egg song but not like her regular noise either. It was wierd...
I have a Barred Rock that squawks her head off at the back door because she is hungry or when she is mad because she can't get into the nest box (she hates to wait until another hen has finished and she won't share a box). One morning she was squaking her head off and I went outside to check on her. The other Barred Rock was in the box. I went back inside. She was continuing to hear her squawk and worried she might disturb the neighbors so I went back ouside. This time the BO was in the box. She was still squawking so I went outside for a third time. I check the nest box and under the BO was an egg from the Golden Comet still wet and stuck to the BO's breast feathers, apparently the Golden Comet couldn't wait. Finally, the Barred Rock was quiet and I went outside to check the box. The BO's egg was in the box and the Barred Rock made a nest and laid her egg in the corner of the coop. By-the-way there is a second nest box.
