I lost so many to predators when I free-ranged all day, that I just can't bring myself to let them out too much any more. I've started letting them out for an hour to an hour and a half in the evening when I get home from work. Once they start reproducing themselves, I'll probably start letting them out more regularly again. At least for short time in the evening, I don't have to worry about them too much, as they put themselves to bed automatically at dusk.
